- Add your scent. Put a small piece of cotton wool in the chamber with the scent you're training, whether that's a target odour from your scent work classes or a smell your dog already knows.
- Close it up. Clip the vented grille back on. The scent gets out, the cotton wool stays in.
- Hide it. Start somewhere easy. As your dog improves, use the magnet to stick it to metal gates, posts and fittings, or hide it higher up and further away.
- Let them search. Give your dog the chance to work it out, and reward them right at the hide when they find it.

Loki is a Hungarian Vizsla and a DogLost Somerset search dog. We wanted a small, reusable scent-training aid that was easy to carry, easy to hide and actually made sense for everyday training. We couldn't find quite what we were looking for, so we made one.
Loki has been involved in testing it from the very beginning, so it's had plenty of use before making its way into anyone else's hands.

What scent should I use?
Whatever your dog is learning. Many scent work classes use a target odour on cotton wool, and for beginners a smell your dog already loves works well. A tiny amount is plenty. If you use essential oils, handle and store them away from your dog and never put them on your dog.
Is it a chew toy?
No. It's a training aid, so always supervise your dog while they use it and put it away afterwards. It contains a strong magnet, and magnets can be very dangerous if swallowed. If your dog is a chewer, reward them before they can get their teeth on it.
How do I change the scent?
Unclip the grille, swap the cotton wool for a fresh piece, and clip it back on. If you're switching to a different scent, give the chamber a wash first so the old smell doesn't linger.
